From our beginnings as the International Humanitarian Law Resource Centre in Jerusalem to our identity as the Diakonia IHL Centre since 2019, we are now stepping confidently into our next chapter simply as the IHL Centre. Refreshed, but not new.

Charting a Humanitarian Response: Two Years Into Sudan’s Conflict- Nairobi, Kenya- June 2025

Two years into the devastating conflict in Sudan, the IHL Centre convened a half-day panel event in Nairobi, bringing together key stakeholders to examine the trajectory of the conflict, highlight critical humanitarian access issues, and advocate for stronger international protection of civilians.

A Legal Appraisal of Israel’s Purported Aid Delivery Scheme in Gaza- June 2025

In May, Israel put in place a controversial new scheme regulating and de facto severely restricting the delivery of supplies into and within Gaza. In a new publication, the IHL Centre shows that the restrictive and coercive conditions imposed by Israel entail multiple violations of international law.

Pathways to justice in the transitional justice process: Accountability in the Syrian context- July 2025

This publication—available in English and Arabic—maps out key legal avenues for accountability in Syria. It offers essential insights to support inclusive, non-discriminatory justice efforts in the wake of the Assad government’s fall in December 2024.
