Where we work

We are a global organisation with local presence: our staff mainly work from our our three regional units and possess strong knowledge of international law and the region they work in.

The IHL Centre is made up of three geographical context units. We also work on additional special contexts globally, including Ukraine, Myanmar and Colombia. More information is available below.

Israel/Palestine

The Israel-Palestine unit is a source of legal expertise supporting humanitarian and human rights action in the Israeli-Palestinian context.

Africa

Operating mainly from our Nairobi hub, with an additional presence in Mali, the Centre’s Africa unit works across a range of conflict-affected contexts in Africa, with a particular focus on the Sahel, East Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region.

Middle East

The Middle East unit provides analysis, training, and advice on the situations in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen and the wider region.

Special contexts

The IHL Centre provides ad hoc legal analysis, capacity strengthening and humanitarian advocacy support in conflict-affected contexts globally. Current and past engagements have included Ukraine, Myanmar and Colombia.
