The Golan Heights

Israel also occupied the Golan Heights from Syria during the 1967 war. In December 1981 it formally applied the Israeli law to the Golan Heights and thus illegaly annexed it.

Similar to East Jerusalemites, the Syrian Druze community in the Golan Heights has permanent residency status in Israel. According to IHL, the Druze community are protected persons living under occupation. Since the Golan Heights is an occupied territory, its annexation to Israel is illegal under international law.
