Finance and Administration Assistant in Bangladesh
Diakonia is a faith-based international development organization that works together with local partner organizations for sustainable change for the most vulnerable people in the world. We are currently looking for a new finance and administration assistant in Bangladesh.
Diakonia, a Swedish development organization, would like to appoint a Finance and Administration Assistant (FAA) for Bangladesh Country Office to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Assist to manage finance and administration of Diakonia Bangladesh Country Office
Manage all financial transactions at the country office, and all the necessary administrative work related to bank transactions, office costs, staff costs, travel costs, communication costs, etc. and keep track of budget balances;
Day-to-day bookkeeping, prepare monthly financial reports, prepare supporting documents for Management Audit and Annual Audit, and follow up on auditor’s recommendations;
Prepare financial updates and reports for submission to back donors as required;
Prepare detailed cost estimates and participates in budget analysis and projections as required.
Prepare recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required for budget preparation, audits or other reasons;
Assist in travel-related activities e.g. visa applications, flight reservations, tickets, accommodation etc.
Keep up-to-date with guidelines of Diakonia and local laws and regulations concerning finance and administration
Assist in matters related to documentation and report related to NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh;
Maintains liaison with officials of local banks to obtain day-to-day information on exchange and interest rates, changes in procedures and regulations and matters pertaining to maintenance of official bank accounts;
Maintain and archive information, including registering and uploading relevant documents to the Diakonia IT system;
Coordinate service and maintenance of inventory and supplies when applicable
Maintain office inventory register and other registers as necessary.
Assist in organizing different capacity building events e.g. meetings, workshops, seminars etc.
Assist in financial monitoring of projects if required.
Job Nature: Full-time
Job duration: April/May 2018 – December 2020 (six months provision period)
Education: B.Com or Master in Accounting/Finance with CA (CC) from a reputed audit firm
Experience: At least 2 years of practical experience in similar types of responsibilities
Additional job requirements
The applicant is expected to have sound knowledge in financial management, office management and support related activities.
The applicant should have good analytical skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills both in English and Bangla, good command in MS Office, especially in MS Excel and relevant accounting software; proficient in typing in Bengali and English.
Job Location: Dhaka (required traveling outside Dhaka)
Starting salary: Tk 37,000 per month (or according to Diakonia’s revised scale)
