Are you the one we´re looking for?

As the Country Director for Diakonia in Cambodia is retiring, we are seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the country team in Cambodia. The Country Director will be responsible for implementing Diakonia’s country strategy for Cambodia and take our next steps on the road towards a sustainable long-term presence where we can support programmes witlocal organisations in Cambodia over the longer-term partnership.

The work is under delegation and supervision by the Regional Director.

Main Responsibilities 

Leads and directs strategic development and implementation of Diakonia’s country strategy in Cambodia.

Represents Diakonia with personnel and managerial responsibility, and working environment responsibility for all employees within the country as well as meetings and conferences within the country.

Manages and oversees grants to partners, including develop sustainable funding of the country programme.

Ensures partners are provided with capacity building and technical assistance needed in a timely manner, including facilitating workshops with program partners, and helping to enhance advocacy efforts.

Responsible for the country budget, develops and monitors annual operational budgets, and reports on the country strategy internally within Diakonia and with external donors.

Initiates and leads the resource mobilisation for the country programme, in collaboration with the regional and head offices.

Coordinates with all other Diakonia teams as may be required to support, document, and/or review the implementation of the Diakonia regional strategy.

Ensures that the Cambodia country strategy team uphold Diakonia’s shared values in all aspects of their work.

Manages and oversee staff and administration of the Cambodia country office.

Competence and Experience:

Master degree or higher in relevant field, including experience in management and financial control.

At least 5 years’ experience of working with an INGO.

Deep understanding of the local context.

Independent and creative problem-solving beyond well-known guidelines, within diverse areas of activity. 

Thematic knowledge and experience of working with human rights, democracy, gender equality, good governance, and social and economic justice.

Distinct ability to think strategically and conceptually.

Excellent English writing and speaking skills, and good knowledge of local languages.

Good social skills and experience from working in a multicultural setting.

This position is open to Cambodia nationals.
