IHL Youth Conference in Amman

On 10 and 11 June 2019 the Diakonia International Humanitarian Law Centre in Lebanon, in cooperation with the Law Faculty of the Petra University, hosted the pioneer Regional Youth Conference on International Humanitarian Law.

The Diakonia International Humanitarian Law Centre in Lebanon, in cooperation with the Law Faculty of the Petra University, hosted the pioneer Regional Youth Conference on International Humanitarian Law on 10 and 11 June 2019 in Amman, Jordan. Over 20 leading experts of international humanitarian law (IHL), researchers, and law students from Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia came together to contribute to this leading edge scientific forum.

"This Conference is among the most successful outcomes of our commitment and focus at Diakonia to create and facilitate the most conducive conditions for the Youths to reach excellence in their knowledge of international law and to express the best professional version of themselves," said Dr. Jelena Plamenac, Desk Manager of the Diakonia International Humanitarian Law Centre in Lebanon, in her opening speech.

As a scientific contribution to the Arab legal scholarship in international humanitarian law and a public record of high quality intellectual debates, the Youth Conference Book publishes participants' research papers and expert key notes on some of the most complex international legal issues of today that fall under the overall subject of the protection of vulnerable groups under IHL.
