Diakonia’s policy stems from people’s conviction, faith and commitment, and their vision of being able to transform these into actions. The document is based on our core values, which are the belief in people’s equal value and the right of all people to a dignified life. Our mission is based on core Christian values. We work for people’s liberation and redress, and to create or recreate structures that are righteous and fair. We do this by analysing the underlying causes of injustice and conflict and then looking for alternative solutions. We also do this by tackling issues of distribution in the world – by highlighting unjust structures and working to ensure that the world’s resources are distributed fairly. Five themes form the basis of our policyThe Diakonia policy sets five basic themes that permeates all our and our partner organisations' work for development and justice: Environmental and climate issuesClimate change is a global challenge faced by humanity. Environmental and climate issues are intergated into all relevant aspects of our work. |
