Organizations around the world is currently taking part in the video competition “Show Me Inclusion”, which gives young people the opportunity to be creative about the inclusion of persons with disabilities. Diakonia’s partner organization Stars of Hope is one of the participants. The importance of Show Me InclusionIn development related work, there is often a focus on promoting the rights of larger groups of society, like women or children. The rights of disabled people are however frequently forgotten, and the issue is seldom discussed in larger forums. Show Inclusion is therefore a unique opportunity for organizations engaged in the promotion of disabled people to voice their issue with tools like videos, drawings, sketch books and audio files. The entries most voted for will be reviewed by an international jury of experts within the field. The winning entry will be announced on the International Day for the Persons with Disabilities, December 3rd, and will be professionally produced and used worldwide as an awareness raising tool. Diakonia’s partner organization Stars of Hope participatesThrough Diakonia’s Regional Rehabilitation Programme, we are cooperating with local organizations in the Middle East in raising awareness surrounding disabled people. One of our partner organizations is Stars of Hope, which focuses on women with disabilities in Palestine. They have developed a film showing that just a little effort can make a large impact for people with disabilities.
