Diaikonia cooperates with the Swedish Postcode Lottery. In 2013 Diakonia gets 8 million SEK to allocate to a number of partner organizations and also for advocacy work in Sweden and EU.
8 million SEk to partner organizations around the world
Thanks to the support from the Swedish Postcode Lottery Diakonia and our partner organizations can undertake important development projects in many different countries.
In 2011, Diakonia's dividend from the Lottery was 5 million SEK, which financed partner organizations' work in for example Bangladesh, Burkina Faso and Kenya.
Financed by the lottery ticket buyers
25 percent of the Swedish households have joined the lottery, and every month 1.6 million tickets are being sold. It is the lottery ticket buyers in Sweden which allows dividends to Diakonia and the other organizations. The 2013 dividend broke all records.
The Swedish Postcode Lottery has its own TV-broadcast at a major Swedish television channel (TV4) every Friday and Saturday. The show has an average of 1 million viewers.
