Diakonia regularly participates in and produces in-depth reports regarding development aid and our thematic focus areas. Most of our publications are in Swedish, but some are also produced in English: December 2009: A report about Gaza one year after Operation Cast LeadOne year after the war the citizens of Gaza still have not seen any rebuilding. Only 41 truckloads with construction materials have been allowd to enter gaza during the last year. The international community has betrayed the people of Gaza by failing to back their words with effective actions. November 2009: Keep and develop the Kyoto protocolIn an evaluation, the network Aprodev points out the importance of keeping and strengthening the current Kyoto protocol. This as a way of securing that the developed countries historical climate burden and responsibility, must not be lost in a new agreement. October 2009: The role of religion in development work:What does the role of religion in development work look like? This was the theme for an international seminar, held by Diakonia. A report summarizes the discussions and conclusions from the seminar. May 2009: “Lighten the load: In a time of crisis European aid has never been more important”.This is the title and the main message in the AidWatch report on EU's development aid that was launched in May 2009. May 2008: No time to wasteThe report “No Time to Waste”, published by CONCORD, a network where Diakonia is a member, reveals that on current trends the European Union (EU) will have given 75 billion less in aid by 2010 than it promised, threatening progress on the UN Millennium Development Goals set for 2015. If the recent record of slow progress continues, February 2008: Risky businessDiakonia, SwedWatch and IPIS published a report that assesses the company Lundin Mining’s involvement in the mining industry of Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Diakonia is critical of the circumstances and lack of insight into how the contracts were made. February 2008: Tug-of-war over aidNot all international development aid reaches the poor. Donor countries, including Sweden, are undermining their development aid budgets and using aid funding for purposes other than efforts to eradicate poverty. This is shown in the report "Tug-of-war over aid", from Diakonia.
