About us

Moving Mountains - a youth festival in Israel and Palestine

In July 2013, Diakonia and our partner organization Sabeel will gather young people between 18-35 from all around the world to Israel and Palestine for the youth festival Moving Mountains - Reshaping the World. Together, we will address important human issues, through both faith-based and secular lenses, in a fresh and active way.

An action oriented festival

What is unique about the youth festival is its focus on action. The daytime work will center itself around activism, encouraging the participants to make a difference within the theme of the day. The ambition is to create miracles each day, by making changes that will be of importance to the beneficiaries in the long run.

Four main themes

The purpose of Moving Mountains - Reshaping the World is to develop processes where four themes are highlighted during the week. These are:

  • Environmental sustainability
  • Economical justice
  • Human rights
  • Community

Unique opportunity

What makes Moving Mountains - Reshaping the World unique is how it creates an opportunity for young people to combine deep contextual understanding with practical, holistic response to the pressing global challenges in our time. The festival strives not only to be a forum for an active young generation, but also to be the springboard of annual youth festivals within the theme of development, sustainablitity and change.

If you have questions about the youth festival, contact Diakonia's project manager Sven Jansson through sven.jansson@diakonia.se.

Do you want to be a sponsor?

Many of those who want to attend the Moving Mountains festival are from developing countries. Since the travels to and from Palestine are expensive, several of the young people lack the resources to afford this themselves.

If you want to support a person and give him/her the possibility to participate, here is your chance! Insert a donation directed to Moving Mountains via Diakonia's account, Plusgiro 90 33 04-4. Make sure you mark your donation with Moving Mountains sponsoring.

Thank you!
