How we work

Human resource handbook

Diakonia's internat human resource handbook regulates our work issues related to human resources issues. The main principle of the handbook is that all Diakonia employees are assured the same rights and opportunities as regards conditions of employment, employment benefits and opportunities for development.

If a country’s labour legislation contains less advantageous terms of employment for the employee than those stipulated in Diakonia's human resource handbook, provided law or current collective agreements permit, they shall be replaced by the regulations in the handbook.

Similarly, the regulations in the human resource handbook are adapted to the laws of each respective country, if they offer more advantageous terms to the employee.

The Diakonia human resource handbook regulates:

  • Guidelines for recruitment
  • Employment
  • Condition of employment
  • Non-working time
  • Keep-fit activities, healthcare and medical treatment
  • Work equipment
  • Working environment
  • Termination of employment
  • Code of conduct

Diakonia's human resource handbook is updated regularly, and adapted to new laws and regulations when necessary.

The Diakonia head office in Sweden co-ordinates and controls the general human resource work, and works closely together with staff responsible for human resources at our regional offices.
